Return of Cheltenham and Aintree.

This weekend saw the return of two of the most famous racecourses as well as some peoples favourite horses, we will start things off at Prestbury Park on the Friday. 2:35 Cheltenham:   The Squareintheair.com Novices chase saw a field of 4 runners turn up with Al Dancer opening up as the Even money fav, 2nd in the betting was one of my 10 to follow in Getaway Trump, the pair of them sat behind the leader for most of the race with them both sweeping past turning in, when they did Getaway Trump looked to be travelling the best of the 2 before making a mistake and looking to empty between the final 2 fences, leaving the race for Al Dancer, I thought they both ran with credit, Getaway Trump jumping the best of the 2 throughout the race, Its been well documented that the Nicholls horses are needing to get a run into themselves before being fully ready to go, I’d fully expect Getaway Trump to reverse the form should they meet again later in the season. 3:45 Cheltenham: 3m

(Horse profile can be viewed by clicking name) Beakstown (Dan Skelton) Beakstown ended his novice hurdle campaign being pulled up in the Ballymore at The Cheltenham festival, but it was his runs before then that caught the eye, having notched up 2 wins and a 2nd place in his previous 3 starts most impressive one being his Grade 2 success in the Leamington Novices hurdle at Warwick where he beat a decent field, this was an added extra as the Skeltons always said anything he did in his novice hurdle season would be a bonus as he was always going to make a better chaser, so with that being said I like them are expecting a big season for him over the larger obstacles.   For many Chepstow signifies the return of the Jumps season proper, always good when you start to get those tracker notifications coming through for the horses who fought out last seasons main festivals making the much anticipated return to the tracks. Chepstow’s two day meeting started off with the Persian War Novices Hurdle which was won in impressive style by last seasons Champion Bumper 3rd Thyme Hill, the Philip Hobbs trained 5 year old was settled in midfield for the most of the race, then moved into 2nd between the final two hurdles before, just leading jumping the last, he then finished well under pressure from Richard Johnson beating Fiddlerontheroof by 2 lengths, Thyme Hill certainly could be one of many horses to follow from the Champion Bumper with the 1st and 2nd waiting to make their reappearance. He’s an ante post price 25/1 for the Supreme and 20/1 for the Ballymore. In the Novices chase it was good to see the return of Lisnagar Oscar one of the better sta
